Communications

Mission Statement
To keep our members well-informed and connected through timely, accurate communication, and create a welcoming presence for church seekers by communicating who we are within the Mount Horeb community and surrounding Madison area.

Role in the Life of the Church
We work with the Pastor and the Office Administrator to ensure that internal communications with our members are clear, concise, and timely. We also look for ways that we might use direct mail, advertising, and our web site to reach out to people who are not part of our church family.

Objectives
1. Continually critique the way we communicate information within our church family and look for ways to improve upon it.
2. Support the Pastor and Office Administrator with communications that are overseen by the church office. Help define processes and best practices for communication of:
-- the design of our letterhead, envelopes and business cards
 -- weekly bulletins
 -- monthly newsletters
-- weekly listing of church events in the Mount Horeb Mail
 -- phone book advertising
-- mass mailings and emails to church members
 -- follow-up letters to visitors
-- signage on building and grounds
3. Develop, maintain and evolve our church web site, making it a central place of information for our members, and an inviting source of information for church seekers.
4. Be familiar with United Methodist advertising campaigns and resources available through
Igniting Ministries. When applicable, place local advertising and utilize those resources.
5. Oversee that membership directories and distribution lists are kept up-to-date.

Structure
The Communications Team consists of the Chairperson, our website Web Masters, and additional volunteers who enjoy this type of work and can help support the goals of the committee.
