SPRCMission Statement
The Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) is responsible for leading the spiritual direction of the church. Role in the Life of the Church It has a broad range of responsibilities that help ensure the church fulfills its mission of “Building Wholeness with the Hands of Christ.” Objectives - Managing the mission and vision: SPRC provides input and leadership on spiritual direction of the church. This can mean following up on initiatives like “Vision Quest”, overseeing conference directives (like the formation of small groups), or simply hearing the spiritual needs of the congregation and providing input to pastor. - Communicating priorities in ministry to staff and congregation: Besides communicating the church’s ministry priorities, SPRC plays an active role in making policies that reflect our mission, such as our Safe Sanctuary policy. SPRC is also responsible for encouraging particularly gifted members of congregation to get involved in ministry. - Supporting the pastor and other staff: SPRC helps ensure that all staff, including pastor, has the tools and support they need to do their jobs effectively. Any concerns about performance of these individuals should be brought to attention of SPRC. - Resolving conflicts: When concerns or conflicts arise between parishioners and staff, SPRC receives these and helps to find resolution. - Making personnel decisions: SPRC makes decisions around staff hiring, firing, and performance evaluations. We also are responsible for submitting annual appointment of pastor to district supervisor. Structure The Staff Parish Relations Committee consists of the Chairperson, who shall work with a committee of congregation members identified and invited by the Lay Leadership committee. The SPRC chair sits on the Church Council. |
