Welcome to the Mount Horeb United Methodist Church![]() Haleyem Marie Thorpe 1994 - 2010
Suddenly and tragically, Haleyem's life was cut short early on February 13th due to complications from meningitis. She was an active member of this congregation, as well as basketball, band and chorus at the high school. She will be greatly missed by her family, church family, and friends. You are encouraged to show your continued support to the Thorpe family. Feel free to post a sentiment on her memorial page on Facebook.
Laying it Down Cross Wise
Need an attitude adjustment? Some fuel for your Spirit? Relief from your burdens? Seek Jesus with us at the cross! The season of Lent is to be a time of reflection on Christ’s gift of salvation that came through his death on the cross. During Lent, our worship services will seek to make us more "Cross Wise" through drama, music, preaching and activities. Wednesday Evenings You are invited to join us for soup suppers at 6:15 p.m., followed by 7 p.m. worship services beginning on Ash Wednesday, Feb.17, and running through March 24. Bring a simple side dish for the supper; soup and beverages will be provided. The worship services will center around dramas called "Whose Cross Is It, Anyway?" (by Mark and Karla Jensen, ©2004 Meriwether Publishing, LTD), in which the Jerusalem Postal Service JPS Man (or woman) encounters all kinds of difficulties delivering a cross that no one will accept. Sunday Mornings You are invited to participate in a Lenten Study on the contemporary relevance of the beatitudes from Matthew 5 “Blessed are the...” (written by our District Superintendent Sam Royappa and Rev. Grace Imathiu) hosted by the upstairs Adult Sunday School class at 9 a.m., Feb. 21- March 28. Come enjoy coffee and meaningful discussion in the church library. Then, during worship at 10:15 a.m., don’t miss a special “talk show” segment interviewing one of the stars of The Passion, The Cross (or TC, for short). We would love to meet you!
Welcome to this glimpse of who we are at the Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church. We realize that a glimpse can only tell you so much, but it will introduce you to the hope, the laughter, and the acceptance in Christ that brings us together. We have an amazing congregation of faithful people who don’t take themselves too seriously. We are ordinary people who have come to know the extraordinary love of Jesus, and our lives are richer because of it!
While you are here we invite you to explore our site to learn a little more about us, our ministries, our greater United Methodist connection around the world, and our aspiration to "Build Wholeness with the Hands of Christ" in the Mount Horeb and wider Madison community. If anything sparks an interest or question in your mind, feel free to contact me, and I’d be more than happy to talk with you.
If you have the chance, please join us for worship or another activity so that the impression you receive from this website can expand into a better sense of us, and more importantly, the God we serve.
May God continue to fill your eyes and hearts with glimpses of love!
Pastor Jacki Sharer Robertson
