Trustees
Mission Statement
To supervise and maintain all property belonging to the Mount Horeb United Methodist Church congregation so that the ministries of the congregation can be effective and can reach out to the community in Christian fellowship.
Role in the Life of the Church
In order for the ministries of the congregation to be fulfilled, it is necessary that the property of the Church is maintained. It is our duty to fulfill this need and to assure that future church members are afforded the benefits that come from the word of God. The Trustees may also use their goals to spread the word of God and to bring people together in work-related fellowship and create a sense of ownership that everyone may embrace.
Objectives
One of our objectives would be to complete the “to do” list that was created during the fall of 2005. By doing so, we can gain the confidence and the support of the congregation.
Another objective is to create and complete any outstanding or outdated forms for facility use. We would also like to create a new commitment as it relates to the future use of the facilities.
Finally, our last objective would be to create a 5-year facilities plan that may help the congregation prepare for future facilities needs.
Structure
Our committee includes a board of trustees. The board includes one member that is the trustee chair. The chairperson is responsible for guiding the work of the board throughout the year, planning the agendas, and presiding at meetings. The chairperson shall also consult regularly with the pastor about property matters and participate fully in the church council. The remaining trustees are comprised of volunteer congregation members who are expected to attend monthly trustee meetings and to assist with committee goals.
Current Needs
We are desperately in need of skilled or unskilled members that would be willing to complete any task on the “to do” list. Many of the needs can be completed by church members, and we are praying that a select few will come forward to assist with this need.
We also feel there is a need for a maintenance fund that may be used to finance the needs of the current “to do” list and any future repair needs so that our facilities may be maintained for years to come.
We recognize that our committee is looked upon to maintain our church facilities, but we are unable to complete all tasks. We strive to ensure that projects undertaken by the Trustees are done well and encourage volunteer participation so that we may guarantee the success or our activities.
