United Methodist Women
Mission Statement
We are a unit of women whose purpose is to know God and share His love in supportive fellowship with each other, and in mission to women, youth, and children of our congregation, our community, and our world.
Role in the Life of the Church
We are a fellowship of women that support each other, the church and its missions. We hold annual fund raising events (such as the Ice Cream Social and Pasty Sale) to help fund mission projects, improvements and equipment for the kitchen and church building, and help fund other needs of Mt. Horeb UMC.
Objectives
Our primary objectives are:
1) Fellowship
a. For UMW members
b. For group events open to many, such as the annual Variety Show and dinner, and the Women’s Spring Breakfast.
2) Mission
a. In our church (such as youth scholarships)
b. In our community (such as The Road Home, The Mt. Horeb Food Pantry, and the Mt. Horeb Clothes Closet)
c. In our world (such as UMW worldwide missions and the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR))
Structure
We are a part of the worldwide group of United Methodist Women and follow their guidelines for guidance with our structure.
We currently have Co-presidents and a treasurer.
We meet monthly for fellowship and event planning.
We also have a small group that meets weekly or biweekly for Bible study.
Current needs
We would love to have more women of the Church join us. Interested women should have a willingness to give of themselves in Christian fellowship and in mission to women, youth, and children. We need the support of our whole congregation at our fundraiser events which benefit the Church and Church-sponsored mission projects.
